This photograph from the 1960s (or even 50s) was a total mystery until Richard "Dick" Towle, for decades the lead photographer for both Cricket and the Manchester Police Department, came in and helped us out. This is the old Knight Fuel & Lumber Company, located in what's now Peele House Square on Central Street in downtown Manchester-by-the-Sea. Those giant tanks are filled with oil. The building to the right is the old Al's Cafe (now Cuddlefish). Behind the photographer would be the parking lot behind Town Hall.
