No-Shave November

For the second consecutive year, the Manchester by-the-Sea Police Department joined local police agencies in No-Shave November. This event raises funds for Home Base, a charity which provides clinical support services for veterans and their families.
Chief Conley agreed to suspend facial hair grooming policies through January for each officer who donated one hundred dollars. This year the department raised $1,700 for the charity. At a Fenway park ceremony, Manchester Police Sergeant Mark McCoy presented a check to Home Base Director of Outreach Bill Davidson. Bill Davidson is both a veteran and a retired Manchester police officer. They were joined by No Shave November founder Transit Police Officer Kurt Power.
Chief Conley: “I am proud of the high level of participation we’ve had with this fundraiser. This a relatively young department so beard success varies greatly, but, they are not deterred by potential embarrassment. One open challenge is finding an equivalent opportunity for our female employees to participate in. Please send any interesting ideas to me”.
