100th Anniversary Open House at Troop 3
After an outstanding double float in the 4th of July parade, Troop 3’s 100th Anniversary celebration continues with an open house on Saturday, August 19 from 1-4pm. Former troop members, leaders, committee members and prospective new Scouts and parents are invited to the Scouthouse at 74 School Street to get a closer look at our home base where weekly scout meetings are held and where all our gear for our various excursions and expeditions are stored.
If you were a member of Troop 3 at one time, you are encouraged to bring along a story, photo or memento of your experience with the troop. As the committee continues to organize this year’s festivities, the memories that have been shared have been laugh-out-loud funny, precious and timeless.
Following the open house on Saturday, August 19, from 7-10pm, there will be an Evening of Appreciation at the Legion Hall. Former scouts, leaders and committee members are invited to join current troop leadership to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions toward the continued success of Troop 3. Appetizers will be served along with a cash bar. Please RSVP to Troop 3, PO Box 1422, Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA 01944. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or to get on the email list to be kept in the loop for event updates.
A celebratory dinner is in the planning stages for Troop 3 volunteers, scouts and spouses on the evening of Saturday, October 21 at the Legion Hall. Details will be announced in a future issue of the Cricket. Follow along with us on Facebook at “100 Years of Troop 3” as well.
