Winifred Hoysradt, of Manchester, MA, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on May 23, 2015. She was born in Ipswich, England on July 24, 1920, daughter of the late Henry and Emily Last.
As a young woman during World War II she worked as a crane operator in a munitions factory and survived the London Blitz. She married an American Army officer and spent the next 20 years travelling the globe and raising three children. She then worked for Aetna Insurance in Boston for over 20 years. In 1971, she married Robert Hoysradt of Manchester, MA. She joined him in his love of the ocean, helping him lobster and sail, until his death in 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily Pelkey, of Manchester, MA, her son, Chris Simonds, of Mt. Perry, Ohio, her grand-daughters Robin Pelkey Carolan of London, England and Laurel Pelkey Semple, of Washington, D.C. and two great grandchildren, Nattie and Missy Semple. She also leaves three stepchildren, Joan Hoysradt of Newbury, Fred Hoysradt of Newbury, Jean Loebelenz (Brian) of Essex, and two grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Loebelenz.
In accordance with Win’s wishes, funeral services and burial will be private. Win will be buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of the Manchester Library, in commemoration of Win’s lifelong love of reading.
